The Doors have opened the doors of information -- and made it available for your iPad.

On Monday, they launched an iPad app overseen by Jac Holzman, the onetime Elektra Records label-head who initially signed them. At the same time, they issued three new digital box sets, specially re-mastered for iTunes by the group's original engineer, Bruce Botnick.

The app, which sells for under five bucks, contains a slew of features, much of it from the band's own archive, including:

• Interactive content
• Unpublished band images and artwork Rare videos and photos
• Music and complete song lyrics
• Interviews
• A timeline and a cast of characters listing key people in The Doors’ universe
• An interactive Doors map of L.A. that focuses on prime locations in the band’s history
• Essays about the band by authors Hunter S. Thompson and Patti Smith, rock historians David Fricke and Greil Marcus, archivist David Dutkowski and Holzman himself
• A graphic novelization of the famous "Miami Incident," in which Morrison was accused of exposing himself during a 1969 concert, with drawings by comic book artist Dean Haspiel, words by Adam Holzman (son of Jac) and rare audio of Morrison recorded during the show. Also included are the once-confidential FBI report, the arrest report, a portion of Morrison's testimony, his mug shot, and his posthumous pardon, issued in 2010.

To coincide with The Doors' app launch, the group's catalog, including a pair of compilations and the three new digital box sets, is now available exclusively on iTunes. It consists of:
