CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) _ A Charlotte area construction company has been indicted on fraud charges.
Boggs Paving Inc. is accused of receiving more than $87 million in state and federal contracts by misrepresenting the role that a minorit8y-owned contractor played in the work.
The company and its executives are charged with conspiracy to defraud the U.S. Department of Transportation, money laundering, wire fraud, mail fraud and conspiracy.
Those charged include president and CEO Carl Andrew Boggs III of Waxhaw and three other executives.
Boggs' attorney Ken Bell says the government is wrong in its charges. Bell says if any mistakes were made, they were not intentional nor were they federal crimes.
